SmartTRASHER - Exhibited at the Grand Designs Live in London
TRASHER Limited, a Scottish based company, is exhibiting an innovative appliance, SmartTRASHER, to revolutionise how recyclable waste is handled in the kitchen, at Grand Designs Live in London from 1-9 May 2010

SmartTRASHER compacts the waste to dramatically reduce its volume, keeps the waste sorted for entering the recycling system and makes the process easy. Shore designed and developed their first ever product taking it from concept and an initial patented single stroke crushing mechanism to being a fully functional and aesthetically pleasing appliance ready for manufacture.
John Sutherland, Product Manager TRASHER 'Developing an innovative product from concept to manufacture demands expertise, passion, determination, commitment, enthusiasm and team work. Working with Shore Design has given us the opportunity ensure that we have had these elements at this crucial stage in the business.
We look forward to continuing to grow our ongoing relationship with Shore as we work together to reach our desired goals for excellence.'
SmartTRASHER also has the potential to greatly assist local authorities in reaching the government's target of 'zero' land fill waste by 2020 in England and 2025 in Scotland because waste is compacted and kept separated, ideal for collection at kerbside. Compaction allows the collection vehicles to collect more recyclables per journey and therefore reduces the carbon footprint and transportation costs, and the separation of waste types limits cross contamination and makes the recyclables of more value.
