Engineering Design
The engineering development phase enables the design to become a reality and is the heart of any product development.
Our engineers are a core aspect of our ISO 9001 & 13485 design process which ensure the thoroughness of design control, risk assessment and design history file. Detailed engineering analysis on mechanisms and use of simulation complements our design activities.
Designs are optimised to be cost effective & provide value to the client and the end user. Our development of new technologies and solutions delivers intellectual property that gives your business a competitive advantage.

Mechanical Design
Shore's team of professional engineers have experience in developing many products in wide ranging markets and technologies. Our knowledge in key areas ensures that all our products are able to perform exactly as intended. We are able to develop innovative and reliable solutions for products using all standard and many breakthrough technologies.

Mechanism Design
Our engineering team has extensive experience in mechanism development. A combination of computer simulation and physical test rigs are used to develop designs to allow constant validation throughout the development. Our experience ranges from switching devices, paper handling mechanisms to complex electromechanical assemblies in medical devices.

FE Analysis
Running concurrently with the Engineering Design activity on Pro/Engineer CAD software, our simulation systems allow us to analyse product structure, mechanisms or thermal performance. This allows us to quickly explore multiple design solutions quickly and reduce risk before the creation of physical models.

Electronic Harmonisation
Shore Design & our partners can provide electronic hardware and software services to take a product from concept to qualification & manufacturing. Hardware developments include analogue, digital & RF. Software can be embedded systems, instrumentation and PC platforms. We have in depth knowledge of international standards, manufacturing requirements & testing.

Value Engineering
In today's increasingly competitive market place, product cost is of extreme importance. Our teams work to produce products that deliver optimal appearance and functionality whilst ensuring that the product cost target is met or reduced. We also carry out studies on existing products to recommend cost reductions and improvements in product performance

Design for Manufacture
Design for manufacture (DFM) can range from aspects such as correct material selection for process and cost, understanding manufacture strategy, or part design to maximise performance, weight & manufacturing cycle time. Our designs can be tailored to suit the manufacturing process, whether it is high or low volumes, or an automated or manual process.

Design for Assembly
The aim of design for assembly (DFA) is to simplify the product so that the cost of assembly is minimised. An important benefit of our DFA strategy includes improved quality and reliability, and a reduction in production equipment and part inventory. We also design to suit the WEEE directive, which focuses on disassembly of products at the end of their life.

IP Development
Our experience in product development and technology, allows us to quickly see where a product's feature set could be developed to maximise the IP creation & protection. By capturing all of the engineering IP associated with a product design, companies can take a giant step forward in helping itself remain competitive in today’s competitive marketplace.
