Carron Phoenix ▪ Steel Range 2008
Requirement
Design the next generation of Upper to Mid-market Stainless Steel sinks to bolster Carron's ageing retail offering. This range should consist of a Single Bowl Single Drainer (100) and 1.5 Bowl (150) model and incorporate interesting design features as well as strong, contemporary, mass-market appeal.
Development
In an iterative process of hand sketch development and 3D Computer refinement, Shore Design created over 6 distinct, viable concepts. Following discussions with the in-house team at Carron Phoenix these designs were refined and developed creating a strong spectrum of concepts for user testing.

In parallel, in-depth technical discussions were held with the manufacturing team to fine tune and confirm some of the more technically challenging issues thus ensuring that the designs had a clean, minimalist form factor but within mass producible solutions.
Result
The design's were so well received that instead of just developing one single range, the customer developed three; the Aria, the Cuba, and the Maui, a total of six sinks. In particular the Cuba has clean lines with an innovative construction allowing for a low profile edge detail and a flush but effective draining area. Also the Maui design made great use of existing tooled components cutting development costs.
