Prototype & Evaluation
Our prototype & evaluation services are involved in all stages of our development process. The output can be to create sketch models to assess form or ergonomic study, or high quality visual mock-ups for user trials.
In the early development stages we can create proof of principle models to confirm & refine performance, and during engineering development create assemblies for verification testing of fit, form & function.
Sketch Models
An integral part of the design process is the creation of sketch models. These models, produced almost as rapidly as sketches themselves, allow for 3D evaluation of a concept much earlier in the process than is traditionally possible. The models also allow much earlier access to other disciplines and allow the possibility of very early concurrent engineering.
Appearance Models
Shore Design has a full time in-house model maker who provides invaluable support at all stages throughout the development of concepts. All design details are included and materials, colour and finish are as per the final design. These models are often used for user trials and are of a quality suitable for marketing purposes such as packaging and trade show events.
Proof-of-Principle
An early step in the development of new technology products or those that challenge existing technology barriers, is a proof of principle model. These models allow a fast evaluation of the operating principles of any design and allow direct early entry into development. They are also invaluable in funding rounds or investor presentations.
Verification Prototypes
To ensure a design meets product requirements, we create verification prototypes which are assessed using the agreed verification test plan. These prototypes are made using various processes, including CNC & soft tool injection moulding.
Verification Test & Evaluation
Every product we design is subject to a verification testing & evaluation. Our verification test includes checks for Fit, Form & Function & physical performance testing. Once the tests are complete, any required design updates are incorporated into the 3D CAD design ready for the progression to mass production.
Verification Tooling
To maximise the effectiveness of verification testing, we can produce short run low cost tooling to allow injection moulding or pressing of production standard parts. This allows the parts to be created by exactly the same process as in final production.
ISO Approved Supply Chain
We have an extensive list of approved suppliers & partners using many different manufacturing processes that can supply varying volume of products in diverse locations. All suppliers are subject to audit and approval in accordance with our ISO 9001 &13485 accredited development process.
