Shore Design Invests In New 3D Production System
Shore Design has recently expanded our in-house 3D prototyping facility with the purchase of a Fortus 250mc 3D Production System. This investment further develops our in-house service and delivers very accurate, high quality 3D models direct from our CAD data in ABS material. This will reduce development time and allow creation of models for proof of concept, functional testing, product mock-ups and verification testing.
Director Nick Foley adds “The new apparatus enables us to create larger models, more quickly and most importantly more accurately than ever before. Having these state of the art facilities in-house will allow us to create physical models in a few hours, reducing project development time and it further strengthens our core suite of services. Additionally this solution will compliment with our existing, valued prototype partners from our ISO approved supply chain; allowing us together to offer our clients an improved, more complete service.

Shore Design Develops a New Family of Smart Meters
OnStream, a National Grid company that supplies meter-reading and metering services to energy suppliers across Great Britain, has launched smart meters for both electricity and gas that can communicate with similarly equipped appliances through Bluetooth-style wireless technology.
Shore Design were selected to design and develop the product platform ranging from initial aesthetics & user interface through to detailed mechanical design and launch into production. Its ability to turn appliances on and off remotely means that customers will be able to choose cheaper "interruptible" tariffs and run their appliances at the most economic time, which will help to balance energy demand. Steve Holliday, the chief executive of National Grid, quoted in The Times, 20th April "We believe that this meter is what the industry has been waiting for."
